Seminar
Wolfgang Schäffler, Udo Steingraeber
Deutsch

This presentation, accompanied by a short slideshow, is aimed primarily at younger colleagues, and perhaps also at instructors with—perhaps—new ideas for training the next generation.

Steingraeber recommends 13 steps of "intonation" without a stylus! The premise is:
"TONE PRODUCTION IS COMPLEX AND SHOULD BE EXAMINED STEP BY STEP."

A poor sound is not always due to a malfunctioning hammer felt:
"The question is rather, WHERE might the transmission of the pianist's energy be disrupted?"

The presentation aims to raise awareness of where the foundations for an optimal chain reaction lie, from the initial touch... through the piano body... to the ear.

In his introduction, Schmidt-Steingraeber will discuss musical objectives, while in the main part, Wolfgang Schäffler will discuss the 13 steps that should precede the first stylus insertion.
... Piano maker Wolfgang Schäffler shares his experience as a plant manager, chief technician, appraiser, and concert technician on three continents; Udo Schmidt-Steingraeber recounts his hundreds of encounters with pianists – together, they are approaching a combined professional experience of approximately one hundred years :)
